Conveyor Design Requirements
To Maximize Accuracy of All Belt Scales

  • Avoid High Speed
  • Belt Speed Should Not Exceed 300 fpm on Belts <25' in Length
  • Use Well Balanced (Concentric) Idlers to Minimize Vibration
  • Conveyor Should be of a Rigid Design and Free of Vibration
  • Belt Tension Must Remain Consistent
  • The Empty Belt Must be in Contact with Idler at all Times
  • Belt Must Track in the Center of Idlers (Both Empty and Full)
  • Conveyor loading must be uniform and as far from the scale as possible
  • Conveyor angle should not exceed angle of material slide
  • Maximum Idler Trough Angle should be 35%
  • Material Build-up on the Belt should be Minimized
  • The Scale should be Installed as far from head and tail pulley as possible
